"The judge is now likely to visit the crime scene on August 10," Robin Mugera, who appeared for the accused in the case, told PTI.
"Desai, who was scheduled to visit Gulberg society today, postponed the visit due to water-logging in nearby areas and on the way to Gulberg society," Mugera said.
Advocate for the survivors, S M Vora, said the visit has been postponed due to water-logging.
In 2010, Judge B U Joshi, who was conducting trial in the case, had visited the scene of crime at Gulberg Society.
According to the advocates in the case, the site visit helps the judge to verify the claims made by the witnesses and to have an exact idea of the geography of the crime scene.
At least 69 persons of the minority community living in this Society, including former Congress MP Ehsan Jafri, were killed during the post-Godhra riots. The incident took place on February 28, 2002, a day after the Godhra train burning incident.
