Gur prices strengthened by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following increased buying triggered by winter season amid restricted supplies.
Muradnagar gur markets also recorded a steep rise of up to Rs 200 per quintal in their prices on paucity of stocks.
Marketmen said scarcity of stocks due to less arrivals from manufacturing belts coupled with strong demand from stockists and retailers to meet the ongoing winter season demand, mainly supported the upside in gur prices at Delhi as well as Muzaffarnagar.
In Delhi, gur Chakku, Pedi and Dhayya prices settled higher by Rs 100 each to Rs 2,900-3,000, Rs 3,000-3,100 and Rs 3,200-3,300 per quintal.
At Muzaffarnagar, Gur Chakaku and Khurpa prices shot up by Rs 200 each to settle at Rs 2,625-2,950 and Rs 2,600-2,650 per quintal respectively.
Gur Laddoo prices also hardened by Rs 50 to end the day at Rs 2,850-2,950 per quintal.
Heavy buying by beer makers pushed up the gur Raskat by Rs Rs 150 to close at Rs 2,400-2,450 per quintal.
Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):
Gur chakku Rs 2,900-3,000, pedi Rs 3,000-3,100, dhayya Rs 3,200-3,300 and shakkar Rs 3,300-3,400.
