Gur prices climb on tight supply

Gur prices flared up by Rs 100 per quintal in the wholesale gur (Jaggery) market in the national capital today following negligible arrivals due to adverse weather conditions amidst speculative buying.
Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets also witnessed a firm trend due to paucity of stocks and prices rose up to Rs 200 per quintal.
Marketmen said considerable fall in supplies from producing belts in view of adverse weather conditions and speculative buying activity by stockists, mainly influenced gur prices.
In Delhi, gur Chakku and Pedi prices hardened by Rs 100 each to finish at Rs 2,600-2,700 and Rs 2,800-2,900 per quintal.

Similarly, gur Dhayya and Shakkar prices gained Rs 100 each to Rs 2,800-3,000 and Rs 3,000-3,100 per quintal.
At Muzaffarnagar, gur Chakku attracted buyers attention and shot up by Rs 200 to Rs 2,300-2,700, following Ladoo quality by Rs 150 at Rs 2,500-2,700 per quintal.

Muradnagar gur markets also depicted a rise up to Rs 150 in gur pedi and dhayya at Rs 2,400-2,500 and Rs 2,500-2,550 per quintal.
Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):
Gur chakku Rs 2,600-2,700, pedi Rs 2,800-2,900, dhayya Rs 2,800-3,000 and shakkar Rs 3,000-3,100.
Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,200-2,250, chakku Rs 2,300-2,700, khurpa Rs 2,300-2,400 and Ladoo Rs 2,500-2,700.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,400-2,500 and dhayya Rs 2,500-2,550.
