Gur Dhayya prices hardened by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale gur (Jaggery) market in the national capital today following paucity of stocks.
Muzaffarnagar gur market also witnessed a sharp rise up to Rs 220 per quintal on speculative buying, sparked by scarcity of stocks.
Marketmen said thin ready stocks on negligible arrivals from manufacturing belts following rising mercury, sparked by speculative buying by stockists and retailers, mainly buoyed gur prices in Delhi and Muzaffarnagar.
In Delhi, gur Dhayya prices hardened by Rs 100 to end at Rs 3,400-3,500 per quintal.
At Muzaffarnagar, the biggest rise of Rs 220 per quintal showed in gur Chakku prices at Rs 2,750-3,020 as compared to overnight close of Rs 2,550-2,800.

Prices of gur Raskat climbed Rs 75 to finish at Rs 2,550-2,600 per quintal on strong demand from beer makers due to rising mercury.
