Marketmen said increased buying by stockists on the back of pick up in demand from retailers against tight stocks position on fall in supplies from producing belts mainly led to rise in gur prices.
Moreoever, prevailing tight funds position following government's move to withdraw notes of higher denominations, also influenced sentiment.
At Delhi, gur chakku and shakkar moved up by Rs 100 each to 3,100-3,200 and Rs 3,600-3,700 per quintal respectively.
Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):
Gur chakku Rs 3,100-3,200, pedi Rs 3,200-3,300, dhayya Rs 3,400-3,500 and shakkar Rs 3,600-3,700.
Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,500-2,600, chakku Rs 2,700-2,900, khurpa Rs 2,600-2,650 and Ladoo Rs 2,900-3,000.
Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,850-2,900 and dhayya Rs 2,950-3,000.
