Guv requests HRD to open Kendriya Vidyalas in border areas

Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra has requested the Union Human Resources Development ministry for opening up of residential Kendriya Vidyalaya schools in few border districts of the state in conjunction with Navodaya Vidyalayas.

The governor, who is presently in the national capital, called on Union HRD Minister Prakash Javedkar yesterday and emphasized on opening of such schools in remote areas and higher reaches of the border districts, a Raj Bhawan release said here today.

"In addition to the help for our school going children, the people living in these areas will also be benefited by such schools in great measures.

This initiative will also help in the development of the area, generation of employment and livelihood," he said.

The HRD minister appreciated the suggestion of the governor and promised his full support.

Javedkar promised to open residential Kendriya Vidyalaya-cum-Navodaya Vidyalayas as early as possible, it said.

The governor also requested the minister to appoint a Director for the NIT at Yupia and a permanent Vice Chancellor for Rajiv Gandhi University.

The minister promised to complete the process of the appointment of Director and Vice Chancellor at an early date.

The governor also had a meeting with the commissioner of Navodaya Vidyalaya where he briefed him regarding the need for opening of primary and secondary schools for the young children in the state, the release added.
