Guv's address listed achievements of SAD-BJP govt: Sukhbir

Opposition SAD today claimed that the Congress government in Punjab had presented the "progress report" of the previous SAD-BJP dispensation in the Governor's address.

The address was yesterday on the opening day of the Punjab Assembly's Budget Session.

SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal, on the session's second day, also said that Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had "not presented" a single achievement of his first year in office.

"I am thankful to the chief minister because this year's Governor's address was a forceful endorsement of all the policies, programmes decisions and achievements made by SAD- BJP government in 10 years, 2007 to 2017," he told reporters at the assembly's Press Gallery.

"They gave the progress report of our government. They did not mention a single achievement of their regime and not even shared their vision," Badal said.

"The Governor's address is great in listing achievement but false in claiming credit for them," he said.

He said that the Shahpur Kandi and irrigation projects, which were part of the Governor's address, were started by SAD-BJP government and claimed the "achievements" mentioned in it were of the previous dispensation.

The former deputy chief minister said that the approvals for setting up Verka milk plants in Mohali, Amritsar and Jalandhar were given by his government.

"Free power to agriculture, SC, BC and BPL families were also started by us," he said.

Besides, the Punjab State Civil Aviation Council, Punjab Aeronautic College, Patiala, and air-connectivity from Ludhiana and Adampur were also started by SAD-BJP government, he claimed.

On the issue of GST on Langar, Badal said the Congress-led government should have exempted the state's share of GST on it earlier.
