The 39-year-old actress will play the lead in the foodie memoir which chronicles Hamilton's unconventional background, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Like Paltrow, Hamilton is a jack-of-all-trades. The owner and chef of New York's Prune restaurant, is also a trained writer with a masters degree from the University of Michigan.

'Blood, Bones & Butter' is described as in a similar vein as "Julie & Julia", the Meryl Streep starrer that became an unlikely box-office hit.

Paltrow, a cookbook author in her own right, is currently filming "Iron Man 3".
