Hailstorm hits parts of Himachal Pradesh, day temperature dips

Tourist resorts of Shimla, Palampur and Dharamsala were among several parts of Himachal Pradesh which were lashed by severe hailstorm this evening, causing temperatures to plunge by several notches.
The mercury remained high during the day but fell sharply by the evening as the hailstorm lashed several parts, also causing worry to farmers as it is considered harmful for stone fruit crop and wheat crop in lower hills.
The high altitude tribal areas had another spell of mild snowfall while lower hills were lashed by showers accompanied by strong winds.
The day temperature rose to 31.2 degree in Una dropped by five degrees after rains and hailstorm while Sundernagar and Bhuntar recorded maximum temperature at 27.3 degree and 26.2 degree, followed by Nahan 25.0 degree, Solan 23.5 degree, Dharamsala 21.8 degree, Shimla 19.8 degree, Manali 18.0 degree and Kalpa 12.6 degree Celsius.
Bharmaur and Keylong in tribal belt recorded minimum temperature at minus 5.1 degree and 0.4 degree, while Manali recorded a low of 2.4 degree, followed by Bhuntar 6.7 degree, Solan 8.0 degree, Sundernagar 8,5 degree, Una and Shimla 9.0 degree, Palampur 10.2 degree, Dharamsala 10.4 degree and Nahan 12.4 degree Celsius.
The local MeT office has predicted rains and thunderstorm at isolated places during next 48 hours.
