In an embarrassing gesture for the Haryana Congress, state unit president Ashok Tanwar was booed during his speech at the gathering by men wearing pink turbans, considered to be supporters of former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
Hooda, however, was cheered by the same crowd during his vote of thanks.
"All those wearing pink turbans are supporters of Hooda. And those wearing red turbans are supporters of Tanwar. But their presence is negligible," Balwan Singh, who claimed to be a Hooda supporter from Rohtak said.
Brar, however, did not refer to any of the camps.
"Don't fight amongst each other. Don't fight before public. We won't be able to make India RSS-free until if we are not united," Brar appealed to the crowd.
Meanwhile, farmers from Haryana formed majority of the crowd at the Ramlila Ground here, where party President Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi addressed the community and vowed to fight tooth and nail any attempt to bring back the land ordinance in any form and countered the Prime Minister's charge that Congress was blocking development.
On party supporters giving a loud round of applause for party vice president Rahul Gandhi during the rally, Mukherjee claimed it was a sign of his "growing popularity".
"This shows his growing popularity. He has been working really hard, meeting farmers, meeting poor people of the country, various sections of the country. That is showing results and Congress is coming back with more strength and the rally was a proof of that," she added.
