Harayan to be neat and clean by 2017: Dhankar

Haryana government today said it has set a target of making the state neat and clean by 2017 as part of Swachh Bharat Mission.
"Target has been set to make Haryana neat and clean by 2017," Haryana Development and Panchayat Minister Om Prakash Dhankar said during the last day of Monsoon Session.
To achieve this target, cash prizes of Rs one lakh each for villages and wards, Rs five lakh for blocks and Rs 20 lakh for districts have been announced, he said.
He apprised the house about the programme implemented to make Haryana open defecation free with a sum of Rs 3,786.11 lakh had been given to beneficiaries as incentive for constructing toilets in 1,368 Gram Panchayats.
Dhankar said about 2,362 villages, 2,071 Panchayats and 13 blocks have been declared open defecation free.
Besides, Panchkula and Sirsa districts will soon be declared open defecation free, he added.
He informed about an action plan prepared for drainage of pond water and urged the public representatives present in the House to inspire people towards cleanliness in their respective areas.
Dhankar also informed the House that Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board would construct 10 new roads in Dabwali Assembly Constituency.
Besides, 13 roads have been repaired. A new vegetable wholesale market and Sub-Yard are also being established in Dabwali and Odhan respectively, he added.
