Acting on information provided by district control room, the two were arrested while their two accomplices fled the spot near Kadrabad police post Delhi-Meerut Road, police said.
SHO Modi Nagar Deepak Sharma said that last night a message flashed on wireless that some criminals are fleeing towards Modi Nagar after snatching a Swift car from Raj Nagar Extension area.
Police instantly barricaded the Delhi-Meerut road and started inspecting cars.
Around 11.20 PM, a police team at Kadrabad check post spotted a car coming from Ghaziabad and signaled it to stop for checking.
The police party then retaliated in which one of them received a bullet injury on his leg.
During the encounter, two robbers fled away and two were nabbed by police along with robbed car.
Upon frisking, the police recovered two country-made pistol and six live cartridges.
The arrested criminals have been identified as Manish Jatav and Atul, both natives of Meerut.
They have a long criminal history and were wanted in two dozen cases of several districts, the officer said.
