Chairman of hardline Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Shah Geelani today called for boycott of by-poll in Anantnag assembly constituency scheduled to go to polls on June 22 where Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is contesting.
"Geelaniappealed for complete boycott of the upcoming assembly elections for Islamabad (Anantnag) seat," a Hurriyat statement said quoting the octogenarian leader.
Mehbooba is one of the nine candidates in the fray for the by-election to Anantnag assembly segment, which was necessitated by the death of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on January 7 this year.
