Puwala Acchama alias Laxmi (27), surrendered in the presence of DIG of Police (South-West Range) S Shyni and Koraput Superintendent of Police, Charan Singh Meena here.
Puwala, who hailed from Vankavedi village under Kurupam police limits of Vizianagaram district in Andhra Pradesh, initially worked in Derwarda dalam under Nagavali division and thereafter she was transferred to Narayanpatna in Koraput district, the SP said.
She worked in Narayanpatna from 2005 to 2012. She had moved to Ralegada area under Pottangi police station jurisdiction recently, he said.
She will be rehabilitated as per the prevailing surrender policy of the state government, the DIG said, adding "we also appeal to other Maoists to give up arms and join the mainstream.
