Union minister Harsh Vardhan today inaugurated a skill development centre in the Jama Masjid police station area, as a part of the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikaas Yojna.
In a tweet the environment minister said the main objective of the scheme is to refine the skills of the youth and to provide them employment according to their merit.
At the skill development centre, Field Technician Networking and Storage (FTNS) course will be offered for those who have passed class 12 and Retail Management course would be offered for those who have passed class 10, he said.
"On this occasion, I told the students that the skill development scheme of our PM Shri Narendra Modi ji is proving very helpful in alleviating the sufferings of the poor of the country," Vardhan tweeted.
"By developing our skills, this huge army of our youth can bring the poor out of their sufferings. Modiji has called our country a 'Human Resource Capital', a solution to this problem in itself (sic)" the minister wrote on Twitter.
He further said that on his request, the Home Minister has directed the Delhi Police Commissioner to immediately initiate the scheme.
"On my request, the Home Minister directed the Delhi Police Commissioner to immediately initiate the scheme. This scheme was started in five police stations of Delhi of which three come under my parliamentary area - in Jama Masjid, Anand Parbat and Paharganj.
"I hope this humble step will help the skill development initiatives of our PM Shri @NarendraModi, will help the youth and will be another step towards a #NewIndia (sic)," he said in a series of tweets.
