Union Minister Harsh Vardhan visited the site of a building collapse in west Delhi, in which four children and two women were killed on Wednesday, and said it is painful that they lost their lives in the "most tragic manner".

Harsh Vardhan, the MP from Chandni Chowk parliamentary constituency, also visited the injured at Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital.

The five-storey "weak" building collapsed in northwest Delhi's Ashok Vihar on Wednesday morning, three weeks after the 20-year-old structure was inspected by a municipal team following complaints.

"It is indeed painful that they lost their lives in the most tragic manner. I have conveyed my deep condolences to the families of the dead and shared their grief," he said.

The minister said that the search-and-rescue operation was complete and some of the injured have been taken to GB Pant Hospital.

"Visited #DeepChandBandhuHospital, where the victims of #BuildingCollapse at Sawan Park, in Ashok Vihar were admitted. Inquired from doctors of the hospital the condition of the injured; none of them are critical. Also met the injured," he said on Twitter.
