The Haryana unit of Indian Medical Association today went on a one-day strike to protest against the enhanced protocols to be followed by ultrasound centers and the alleged harrasment by government officials.
President of IMA state unit Anil Goyal said all 36 units of the state participated in the strike while over 1400 ultrasound centers remained closed in protest against Form F which has been made mandatory by the government.
Goyal said the form contains 27 points which are only to be filled only by the doctor. The form cannot even be filled by subordinates which presents a problem as a doctor busy attending patients cannot devote his time to such paperwork.
He said going by the number of ultrasounds done every day, it does not seem to be possible for the office of the CMO to scrutinize and check the details of Form F.
Goyal also alleged that routine inspection by the government agencies enhances the scope for corruption.
He said several representations have been made to the Health Department, but the government turned a deaf ear towards their request. He added if their demands are not met they would be forced to go on an indefinite strike.
More than 200 protesting doctors marched from Neelam Chowk to B K Hospital Chowk here. They later presented a memorandum to ADC Aditya Dahiya in the absence of the Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Agrawal.
