Police said they detained the van driver in connection with the seizure and he had confessed that the liquor bottles were to be offloaded at Palayamkottai.
The liquor in 180 ml quantity bottles was fake and was to be distributed to TASMAC (Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation) shops, as per initial investigation, police said.
City Additional Commissioner (Prohibition Enforcement) Radika ordered seizure of the bottles.
Police said the seized liquor was worth Rs 7 lakh. The van worth Rs 10 lakh has been impounded.
