Haryana government is preparing a special scheme to provide water to every field by bringing canal water through community ponds to adjoining fields.
Under the initial phase of the scheme, a pilot project would be implemented in each of the 21 districts of the state, Agriculture and Irrigation Minister O P Dhankar said here today.
He said that floriculture has better prospects in Jhajjar district.
Therefore, Centre of Excellence for Flowers could be set up here. The demand of flowers has been increasing considerably in the world and there has never been any issue on the increasing prices of flowers, he said.
Therefore, farmers should adopt floriculture alongwith farming of traditional crops, he said.
"If farmers of this area would take interest in floriculture, he would make efforts to set up big market of flowers in areas adjoining borders of Gurgaon," he said.
While urging the youth, Dhankar said that they should themselves carry out marketing of their products so that they could get remunerative price of their produce.
Also, Agro Economy would be taught to youth in regional centre of Horticulture University to be set up in Jhajjar district, he said.
The Minister said that he is very close to realise his dream of providing water to every field of the state.
Taking further his vision, the Haryana Irrigation Department would implement the scheme of providing water to every field.
While referring to his recent Israel visit, he said that people of that country have stored rainy water and have turned the unfavourable farming conditions into favourable by using drip and sprinkle irrigation.
"If farmers would adopt such methods of irrigation in Haryana, the Horticulture Department would also provide grant to them," he said.
