Haryana govt to spend additional amount on pensions: Min

Haryana government will spend an additional amount of Rs 8,580 crore on payment of social security pensions after a recent announcement by government for annual increase of Rs 200 in these schemes in the next five years.
The increase in the pension will benefit over 22.37 lakh beneficiaries, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Kavita Jain said here today.
She said that all beneficiaries would get social security pension of Rs 1200 per month with effect from January 1, 2015.
An increase of Rs 200 per year will be made in pension amount and the same would be Rs 2000 per month after a period of five years.
She said that with the increase of Rs 200 per year, an additional amount of Rs 520 crore would be spent in year 2015, Rs 1080 crore in the year 2016, Rs 1677.60 crore in the year 2017, Rs 2313.6 crore in the year 2018 and Rs 2988 crore in 2019 when the pension amount will become Rs 2000 per month.
She said that a sum of Rs 221 crore was being incurred every month on payment of social security pensions.
"Out of the total, more than 13.68 lakh beneficiaries were being covered under old age samman allowance, over 1.38 lakh physically challenged, more than 5.89 lakh under widow and destitute women pension scheme and 26,197 under Ladli social security pension scheme", she added.
