Haryana introduces system of e-vetting of replies

Haryana government today introduced the system of e-vetting of replies to be filed in the court, as well as to generate and deliver custody certificates online.
The state has launched online software 'E-Vetting' and 'E-Custody' which would not only help in cutting down on unnecessary delays in the vetting of replies and delivery of custody certificates to departments concerned, but also result in saving time, travel and money.
The online software was launched by Chief Justice, Punjab and Haryana High Court, Justice Shiavax Jal Vazifdar in the presence of other dignitaries including Haryana Advocate General Baldev Raj Mahajan and senior advocates.

Giving details about the software, Mahajan said 'E-Vetting' system had been jointly developed by the office of Advocate General and National Informatics Centre.
In the first phase, this system would be implemented in the Police and Prisons Departments.
After its successful implementation, the new online system, which is both cost effective and time saving, would be implemented in other departments, he said.

'E-Vetting' system has been designed to facilitate concerned officials to get their reply or affidavit filed online on time.
After its implementation, the Nodal Officer will log in with user ID and password and then upload his reply after vetting in PDF format, which would be further vetted by the law officer concerned to file it in the court.

It would be integrated with SMS and email alerts. Footfalls of about 21,000 officials are witnessed every year in AG office for getting the replies vetted which would be reduced by 80 per cent after implementation of the online system, reducing the annual expenses to the tune of more than Rs 85 lakh, he said.
The 'E-Custody' system, Mahajan said, had been designed by the Prison Department in association with Invader Technologies Private Limited.
In the first phase, this system is being implemented as a pilot project in the Bhondsi Jail, Gurugram.
Later, in the second phase, it would be implemented in other jails of the state, he said.

Giving further details of 'E-Custody' system, he said that it had been developed for managing online delivery of custody certificate from different jails of the state.
After implementation, at least 50 employees of the Prison Department would be spared, who are currently engaged in delivering custody certificates manually, he said.
This would also help in saving annual expenditure of Rs 30 lakh of the Prisons Department, he said.
Custody certificates will be available at the click of a button and help in avoiding unnecessary adjournments. With this, the number of official visits for obtaining custody certificates, which aggregate about 29,000 per annum, would be reduced to zero, Mahajan added.
