Haryana plans to develop ancient cultural heritages, historical places and popular holy pilgrimages into tourist spots to draw visitors from all over the world and enable them to keep a date with state's glorious past and rich cultural heritage.
State Chief Parliamentary Secretary Seema Trikha said this while speaking at the Incredible India Tourism Investors' Summit 2016 organised by the Union Ministry of Tourism, in association with the Tourism Finance Corporation of India (TFCI) and CII.
She said Haryana would be celebrating the Golden Jubilee of its inception from November 1, 2016.
State Tourism Secretary Abhilaksh Likhi said Haryana Tourism was the first to introduce 'farm tourism' in 2003 to attract tourists to villages and farms.
Under this scheme, there are 18 registered farms near Delhi where special packages are available for tourists.
Giving a presentation on possibilities of tourism in Haryana, Haryana Tourism Managing Director Sameer Pal Srow said Kurukshetra had been included under the "Swadesh Darshan Yojana" of the Central Government.
Under this, Rs 17.30 crore would be spent on development of sites associated with the 'Mahabharata'. With a view to encourage the units and people associated with the field, the Haryana Government has declared tourism as an industry, he added.
