Justices A Selvam and V S Ravi said there was no progress in the investigation into the missing of child on June 14, 2013, though the police were asked to file a report today.
Directing the police to expedite the investigation and find the child, the bench said an official in the rank of DIG should file the report.
Meanwhile, the child's father Dinakaran filed a petition seeking to transfer the probe to the CB-CID.
They directed the Additional Director General of Police of the CB-CID to appoint an competent official to investigate the case and trace the child before November 20 and hand it over to the parents
Earlier Meenakshi Dinakaran, the child's mother, filed a petition before the Court demanding Rs 20 lakh compensation from the government.
She said police themselves have stated in their report that many newborn babies went missing from government hospitals across the state in the recent past. "Hence I understood that many child was not only stolen for adoption purposes, but also for organ transplantation beyond the Indian territory", she had stated.
The woman disappeared from the spot quietly and took Meenakshi's case sheet too with her.
