: Madras High Court bench today directed the Pudukottai District Collector to delete the names of deceased people and those who had shifted their houses from the voters' list within one month.
PIL petitioner S Pandian submitted that the list released by the Pudukottai municipality a few months ago contained the names of 1,500 persons who had died or shifted residence.
Justices A.Selvam and P.Kalaiyarasan who heard the petition, directed the Collector to remove the names of the dead voters and those who had shifted their homes.
The petitioner said the names of 28 deceased people were found in Rajagopalapuram area.
Though he gave a representation to the commissioner of Pudukottai, no action was taken, he said.
