The Madras High Court today declined to issue orders for discharge of the victims of the police attack at Thiruvannamalai from the Government Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital here but directed their transfer to the Tiruvannamalai District Headquarters Hospital.
Justice PN Prakash directed authorities to transfer the victims to Tiruvannamalai District Headquarters Hospital at the state's cost, immediately. The judge said they can be discharged on the advice of the doctors at Tiruvannamalai.
The judge issued the direction when counsel for the victims sought their discharge from the hospital here.
The case relates to the brutal assault of a man, his wife and son by three policemen in full public view in Tiruvannamalai district on July 11.
A plea was filed seeking registration of a criminal case against the personnel and their suspension.
Earlier, the Court had directed authorities to transfer them to the Government Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital for better treatment and also provide sufficient police protection.
