The First Bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice M Sunder gave the direction on a PIL from P Santhakumar, who retired as constable from Border Security Force on October 31, 2013.
"We direct that the Secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu, should take necessary decision in pursuance of the communication of the Central Government on November 23, 2012, on reservation to the children of retired para military forces in educational institutions", the judges said.
