The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has directed the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) to formulate action plan for complete removal of encroachments on 66,436 kanals of prime land in the district.
A Division Bench of Justice Mohd Yaqoob Mir and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur yesterday directed the JDA to respond to its notice and submit the action plan, if it had already been prepared.
If the plan has not been formulated, then the court asked the JDA to prepare the same wherein it shall be clearly indicated as to how much land is located in which area, what measures have been taken, and what policy has been adopted for ensuring complete removal of the encroachment.
These direction came in connection with the Civil Miscellaneous Application (CMA) which revealed that 66,436 kanals and one marla of prime land in different localities belonging to the JDA have been encroached upon.
Huge chunks of land of JDA has been encroached upon in Sidhra, Bhatindi, Narwal, Bajalta, Keran, Bagwati Nagar, Gole Gujral, Polura, Belicharana, Balol belt of Jammu district.
A land racket is illegally selling the plots, in connivance with officials of Revenue Department and JDA, police and some political leaders, for the past one-and-a-half decades, the CMA claimed.
