: Madras High Court today directed the Theni District Superintendent of Police to appear in court on October 14 in connection with a petition filed by a retired government officer, alleging that police officials and a district munsif cum judicial magistrate had helped an accused in an assault case.
Petition R Seenichamy charged that the JM and police officials had colluded with the accused, who attacked him.
He sought a direction to the director general of police to transfer the case to CBI. He also sought direction to the registrar general of the court to take action against a district munsif cum judicial magistrate of Aundipatti in Theni district.
The court, after perusing his case, suggested that the case be split and then be filed as the petitioner had sought various reliefs in his case.
The petitioner submitted that he had taken a jewel loan for Rs 1.18 lakh from State Bank of India's Kanniappapillai Patti branch. When he went to the bank on July 21 to repay the loan, bank's field officer picked up an argument over discharge of loan and attacked him,he alleged.Though he filed a complaint against him, no concrete action had been taken.
Justice R Mala asked the SP to appear in person in court on Oct 14 and give his version of the case.
