The Orissa High Court today granted conditional bail to former BJP MLA Hitesh Bagarti, who was arrested by the CBI three years ago for his alleged links with chit fund firm Nabadiganta.
Justice J P Dash directed him to deposit Rs 2 lakh in the trial court and submit bail bonds of Rs 2 lakh each for two sureties.
He was also asked to submit his passport to the investigating police officer.
Bagarti had won the Khariar assembly seat in 2009 on a BJP ticket.
Along with former BJD MLA Subarna Naik and sitting BJD MP Ramachandra Hansda, he was arrested by the CBI in November 2014 for their alleged involvement in the ponzi scam.
While Nayak was released on bail two months ago, Hansda was still behind bars.
