The pollution board tried to bar TNCA from using the stadium for cricket and other sports related activities.
The court's move comes ahead of the India-New Zealand match, scheduled to be held here on September 11.
TNCA secretary K S Viswanathan, in his petition, acknowledged receipt of TNPCB's inpugned order that was sent since the former did not reply to the two showcause notices.
"In compliance with the demand in the showcause notice issued under the Water (P&CP) Act, 1974 for a reply within seven days, the petitioner had hand delivered a detailed reply dated September 3, 2012 on the same day to the officer of the second respondent," the petitioner submitted.
Member secretary, TNPCB and District Environmental Engineer are the first and second respondents.
A Division Bench, comprising Justices Elipe Dharma Rao and M Venugopal, posted the matter after eight weeks.
