A social worker has moved the Bombay High Court seeking a CBI or CID inquiry against one of its retired judges D K Deshmukh for alleged acts of omission and commission following which notices have been issued to respondents.
Nagpur bench of the Bombay High court yesterday issued notices to various respondents--Deshmukh, Union home secretary, state home secretary, Maharashtra State Higher and Technical Education Department Secretary, Pravesh Niyantran Samiti (PNS), and Registrar General of the high court. They have been asked to file their reply by October 7.
Justice Deshmukh is currently the chairman of PNS, which monitors admissions to various professional courses.
The division bench comprising justices Bhushan Gavai and Prasanna Varale, while issuing the notices warned petitioner Purushottam Thakre of the grave consequences he might face if allegations levelled by him against the former judge were found false.
