The Gujarat High Court today issued notice to the state government seeking its stand on a plea which said the official web site for implementation of the Right to Education Act does not give proper information.
The division bench of Chief Justice R Subhash Reddy and Justice V M Pancholi issued notices to the government and the directorate of primary education seeking their views.
Questioning the information given on 'rtegujarat.Org,' petitioner Sandip Munjyasara alleged that it was difficult for the parents to fill admission forms online.
The portal can't locate applicants' address properly, making it difficult to find the private schools within one, three and six kilometre radii where they are eligible to take admission, the plea said.
The petitioner also alleged that the details of the total number of seats and those available in free quota are "hidden intentionally and not shown on web portal."
A government resolution of May 2015 requires that such details are displayed properly, he said.
The government should display details of the number of seats etc, on the portal and a high-level committee should carry out "forensic investigation" of the portal, the plea demanded.
