HC notice to sewage treatment contractor of Sabarimala shrine
Press Trust of India Kochi The Kerala High Court today issued a notice to the sewage treatment contractor of Sabarimala hill shrine through a special messenger on a report over non-pumping of waste water from the treatment plant at Sannidhanam.
The Court said that it needs to be considered as to whether a criminal case can be registered against the contractor, Ramky Infrastructure and its officers.
A bench, comprising Justices Thottathil B Radhakrishnan and Anu Sivaraman, directed personal appearance of the contractor on December 2.
On November 20, chief engineer of the Travancore Devaswom Board, which manages the hill shrine, had given a note to the contractor on overflow due to non-pumping from the well of the plant at the Sannidhanam.
The High Court said if the report was true, it needs to be considered whether a criminal case can be registered for offences punishable under IPC and laws relating to environment and pollution against the company, its officers and persons in control of the company.
