Justice G S Solanki yesterday rejected the plea of Tiwari saying,"It is a case where custodial interrogation of the applicant is necessary."
An FIR was registered against Tiwari and 16 others on February 28 for alleged irregularities in appointments at the state Assembly secretariat in Bhopal between 1993 and 2003.
Tiwari, 89, moved the anticipatory bail on the ground that he was old and ailing. Besides, the former Assembly Speaker's plea said that he has been implicated in the case as his son Sunderlal Tiwari, Congress MLA from Gurh Assembly constituency in Rewa, was vocal against Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Earlier, the Bhopal Sessions Court had rejected Tiwari's bail application on March 9, stating that the charge against him was of a serious nature due to which it would be improper to give him bail.
