Delhi High Court today sought the responses of the AAP government and office of the Lieutenant Governor (LG) on a petition seeking direction to them to grant sanction to try some officials of the Directorate of Education under the anti-graft law for allegedly favouring a school.
Justice Vipin Sanghi issued notices and directed them to file their responses by October 4, the next date of hearing, on the plea which alleged that some officials of the Directorate of Education (DoE) of Delhi government had abused their official position to favour the school.
Petitioner Naresh Chaudhary, through his advocate Gaurav Kumar Bansal, claimed in the court that DoE officials had issued a recognition certificate to a school here against the norms and procedures.
He said he had filed a complaint in a trial court and in March this year he had moved an application before the authorities concerned to grant sanction to prosecute these officials under the Prevtntion of Corruption Act.
The petitioner alleged that the DoE had constituted an inspection team to visit the school premises and the officials had recommended for granting it recognition without considering the deficiencies in the school.
"It is respectfully submitted that the members of the inspection committee, in order to provide wrongful gain to the school owners, abused their positions and recommended the recognition in favor of the school....," the plea said while pointing out the deficiencies in the school.
It claimed that DoE officials had failed to appreciate that the land allotted was only for running a primary school, but they had granted recognition to it for up to the secondary level.
