HC sets up committee to examine construction of Mazgaon court

The Bombay High Court today ordered constitution of a committee to verify Maharashtra government's claims on construction of new magistrate's court in Mazgaon area here.
The committee will also look into infrastructural upgrading of other courts in the city, said a division bench headed by Justice S C Dharmadhikari.
It will comprise members of Mazgaon bar association and the court registry.
The court was hearing a plea filed by the Mazgaon bar association seeking expedition of construction.
The state government had earlier said the construction will be completed by 2017.
The court today noted that the government had repeatedly claimed to have expedited disbursal of funds for the work, but the bar association said last time that the construction had made little progress.

Mazgaon court building, constructed in the 1990s by PWD, was found to be in a dilapidated condition four years ago.
The building was then razed down.
