The Allahabad High Court today fixed February 23 as the next date of hearing of a petition alleging charges of irregularities, misuse of post and corruption against former Noida engineer-in-chief Yadav Singh.
The Lucknow bench of the high court had given time to the state government to file reply on a PIL that sought direction for a CBI probe in the matter and had fixed February 16 as the next date of hearing.
A division bench of Justice Satyendra Singh Chauhan and Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi passed the order on the PIL filed by Nutan Thakur, a social activist.
The petitioner contended that earlier she had filed a supplementary affidavit before the court carrying facts including details of various fake companies floated by Singh for siphoning off illegal money.
Account numbers of such companies, where money has gone directly from Noida authority, have also been provided, the petitioner claimed.
The Uttar Pradesh government has constituted a judicial commission to probe charges of irregularities, misuse of post and corruption against Singh.
The commission, headed by retired justice A N Verma, has been given six months to complete the probe.
Singh was suspended after crores in cash and jewellery were recovered in an income tax raid at his residence last year.
The I-T department reportedly recovered diamonds worth Rs 100 crore, Rs 10 crore in cash and around 2 kg of gold from the residence of Singh, who is said to have had close links with politicians and bureaucrats.
Singh also came under the scanner of Special Investigation Team (SIT) on black money as it asked the CBDT to share information with ED so that money laundering charges could be pressed against him and his accomplices.
