Delhi High Court has directed the North Delhi municipal corporation to immediately computerise booking of unauthorised constructions in their area, saying laxity would not be accepted as such an order was issued eight years ago.
A bench of justices Badar Durrez Ahmed and Sanjeev Sachdeva issued the direction on two PILs seeking action against unauthorised constructions in the Chandni Chowk area.
The court directed the corporation to implement forthwith its directions of 2008 in which it had ordered that the system of booking of unauthorised construction be computerised and centralised and zone-wise complaint cell with telephone facility be created on the lines of the police emergency number 100.
The bench said that such a software should have been in place already after the corporation said a software would have to be designed to implement the directions of 2008.
"In our view, the software should have been in place by now. Immediate steps shall be taken by North Delhi Municipal Corporation for implementing the said software. The progress in doing so shall be reported before the next date of hearing.
"We are making it clear that we shall not accept any laxity in this matter. A further status report, supported by an affidavit, shall also be filed with regard to 66 properties (in the area) in respect of which action is to be taken," the court said and listed the matter for further hearing on August 10.
