Head constable killed by naxals
Press Trust of India Raipur A head constable of police was killed today by alleged naxals in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Dantewada district, police said.
Shankar Prasad Joshi, 45, posted at Kartekalyan police station in the district, was killed in an attack with a sharp weapon by the suspected ultras as he was returning home after duty at the weekly market, Dantewada SP Samlochan Kashyap told PTI.
The naxals also looted Joshi's service rifle before fleeing the spot, he added.
After receiving information about the attack, a police team rushed to the spot and took Joshi to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead.
The entire area has been cordoned off and a hunt has been launched to nab the assailants, said Kashyap.
