Health Minister condoles death of Sheikh Jalal-ud-Din
Press Trust of India New Delhi Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today condoled the demise of noted cardiologist from Kashmir Sheikh Jalal-ud-Din, who was shot by militants, saying his selfless service to people will be remembered for years to come.
Azad along with his wife Shameem called on the bereaved wife and son of Dr Jalal, who was former Director of Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, at AIIMS here to convey their condolences.
In a statement, Azad said, "It is most unfortunate that Dr Jalal-ud-Din is no more with us. He was a very eminent cardiologist of the Valley and a caring doctor, who has been rendering high class super-specialty services to the people of Valley even after his superannuation."
Azad said that Dr Jalal, though a doctor of high repute, used his knowledge and skills for the well being of the people of state without any material considerations.
"Though he could have got a lucrative job in any best private hospitals of the country or even abroad, he chose to serve his countrymen," he said.
Counting him among the rare breed of medical professionals who considered it their duty and privilege to serve the people, Azad lauded his rich contributions as the Vice-President of National Board of Examination, a national level institution under the Ministry of health and Family Welfare.
"We lost a devoted and highly motivated human being who was always willing to help others. His services will be remembered for years to come," said Azad.
