Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said health sector has been flagged as one of the most important areas in the state's development policy.
"Health sector has been flagged as one of the most important sectors in the state's development policy. During the last more than four-and-a-half year, tremendous expansion and consolidation has been achieved besides providing specialists and paramedics in the hospitals and health centres," Omar said.
The chief minister today inaugurated 200-bed District Hospital in Baramulla district of north Kashmir.
Omar said the hospital was another milestone in the endeavour of the government to universalise modern health facilities across the state.
Earlier, the chief minister teed-off Sahara Sher-i-Kashmir Golf Tournament here.
Omar, while speaking to golfers, said Jammu and Kashmir is emerging as one of the favorite golf resorts in the country.
He said development of golf courses in Jammu and Ladakh, besides upgrading the existing ones in Gulmarg and Pahalgam, will give fillip to the game in the state.
The chief minister said that organising various tournaments would provide opportunity to the golfers to participate in these tournaments and enjoy the golf in the picturesque state.
Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah was also present.
