For owners of commercial properties and business establishments in south Delhi, getting a municipal licence may soon get dearer as the SDMC's Standing Committee today approved a hike in their fees.
The revision of the licence fee for health trade, factories and veterinary establishments was proposed during the meeting of the Standing Committee at the Civic Centre here.
Among the proposal, from eating establishments to manufacturing units to entertainment and recreational facilities, a manifold hike has been proposed, especially for five-star hotels, for which the proposed hike is from Rs 500 to Rs 50,000 per year.
The proposed registration fee for five-star hotels is Rs 25,000 vis-a-vis the existing fee of Rs 10,000.
The proposal now awaits its final approval in the SDMC House.
The health trade licenses are granted in commercial area/conforming area, notified commercial and mixed land use street and residential area as per provision of MPD-2021, bye-laws, subject to fulfillment of the technical instruction for the trades.
The panel also proposed to deseal properties which were sealed before June 2014, for being "unauthorised".
"I had proposed this first to the Commissioner. And, the move will allow reprieve to small businessmen but the desealing as and when, would be done as per the municipal norms," a senior SDMC official said.
