The healthcare institutions of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly, in far-off pockets, are being equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities, a state minister said here today.
Claiming that the government has evolved an "effective mechanism" to ensure enhanced medicare, Minister for Medical Education, Taj Mohu-ud-Din, said, "All the healthcare institutions especially in rural and far-off pockets are being equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities besides adequate staff."
The Minister was speaking at a function, jointly organised by Government Medical College and Indira Gandhi Government Dental College (IGGDC) Jammu.
IGGDC was on Monday granted recognition by the Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare.
Congratulating the students and faculty members, Taj said, "The recognition of the college by the Dental Council of India was a long pending demand of the people of Jammu, which has now been fulfilled with the efforts of Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Ghulam Nabi Azad."
The Minister said that the work on the Dental College building, which was currently under construction, would be completed soon.
The government has sanctioned an amount of Rs 90 crore for the building, he said.
Taj, meanwhile, said that with the completion of the Dental College, the students of Jammu can avail the advantage of post graduate and other allied courses in their own state.
He also assured the college authorities that all their demands would be examined and fulfilled on priority.
