'Healthy environment to workers to boost industrial output'

Union minister for Labour and Employment Sis Ram Ola today called for providing a healthy, secure and conducive environment to workers engaged in industries to help increase the country's industrial output.
"I call upon all the industries to provide their workers a safe, healthy environment so that the pace of industrial development in the country gets a boost," Ola said at the presentation ceremony of the Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskar and National Safety Awards for the Performance Year 2011 here.
At the award ceremony today 116 winners received the Vishvakarma Rashtriya Puruskar and in different categories of National Safety awards 63 winners and 35 runners-up were the awardees.

Secretary Labour and Employment Mrutyunjay Sarangi said accidents in industrial units affects adversely not only the employee but also his family, society and the nation and it retards the progress of our society and the country as a whole.
Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskar is awarded in recognition of outstanding suggestions given by a worker or group of workers and implemented by the management during the previous calendar year resulting in improvement in quality, productivity and working conditions such as safety, health and environmental conservation in the industrial undertakings.
National Safety Awards is given in recognition of outstanding safety performance of industrial establishments, construction sites, ports and installations under AERB to stimulate and maintain the interests of both the management and the workers in accident prevention programmes.
