Heat condition eases in Odisha

Barring parts of western Odisha,the long spell of heat conditions subsided across the state amid sliding temperature though high-level of humidity made life uncomfortable in coastal belt today.
As the mercury level dropped in most areas following rains and thundershowers ahead of the approaching monsoon, only five places in the state recorded temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius.
The Monsoon is expected to hit the state in the second week of this month, according to the meteorological centre here. There is favourable condition for the onset of Monsoon, which is expected to reach Odisha anytime in the second week.
Many places in the state received rainfall during the last two days and the temperature in most parts of the state is likely to remain below 40 degrees Celsius for next 2-3 days.
While Chandbali received a rainfall of 28 mm today, Daringibadi recorded 23 mm rainfall and Paradip 10 mm. Similarly, Titlagarh in western Odisha also received 10.2 mm rainfall, the MeT ofice said.
While Sonepur recorded a maximum temperature of 40.9 degrees Celsius, the mercury stood at 40.6 degrees Celsius in Hirakud, 40.4 degrees Celsius in Bolangir, 40.3 degrees Celsius in Sambalpur and 40.2 degrees Celsius in Jharsuguda, it said.
Bhubaneswar recorded 35.4 degree Celsius, while a relative humidity of 95 per cent left people in a state of uneasiness.
The MeT office forecast thundersquall accompanied by gusty surface wind at one or two places over interior Odisha during the next 48 hours.
