Heat intensifies in Odisha, Titlagarh remains the hottest

Searing heat intensified in most parts of Odisha today with Titlagarh remaining the hottest place in the state at 44 degree celsius.
The whole of western Odisha and some other areas sizzled in the gruelling heat as the mercury breached the 40 degree celsius mark in at least 15 places, the Met office said.
Balangir was a close second to Titlagarh recording at 43.7 degree celsius, while it was 43.1 degrees at Angul, 42.6 degree C at Jharsuguda, 42.2 degrees at Sambalpur, 42 degrees at Hirakud, 41.5 degrees at Bhawanipatna, 41.4 degrees at Sonepur and 41.2 degree celsius at Malkangiri, it said.
Sundargarh recorded a maximum temperature of 41 degree celsius, while the mercury stood at 40.8 degrees at Talcher, 40.7 deg C at Chandbali, 40.5 degrees at Dhenkanal, 40.4 degrees at Keonjhargarh and 40.2 deg C at Phulbani, it said.
The maximum temperature in Bhubaneswar was 39.5 degree celsius and 39.4 degrees in Cuttack city, the Met office said.
Sunstroke has claimed at least three lives in the state so far this summer with casualties reported from Bargarh, Angul and Balangir districts, the Special Relief Commissioner's office said.
