Heat wave persists in Raj, Churu hottest

Barring a few places which received little rainfall, heat wave conditions continued in Rajasthan today, where Churu was the hottest place with a maximum temperature of 44.3 degrees Celsius.
Maximum temperature hovered around 4 notches above normal in north-western parts of the state including Sriganganagar, Bikaner,Pilani and Jaipur districts where mercury soared between 40 and 43.6 degrees Celsius, the MeT department said.
Meanwhile till this morning, Jhalawar recorded a maximum rainfall of 2 cms, followed by Roopwas, Bijolia and Jhalawar which received 1 cm of rainfall each.
Hot and humid weather is likely continue in the north-western parts, while light showers may occur in the southern region of the state during the next 24 hours, the MeT forecast said.
