Heavy rains lash Raj, Sriganganagar records 20 cm rainfall

Incessant rains hit the normal life in parts of Rajasthan including Jaipur since last night with Sriganganagar recording the maximum rainfall of 20 cms.
According to MeT office, monsoon was aggressive in northwest of the state covering Jodhpur, Jaipur, Kota, Ajmer, Bikaner, Srigangangar and Udaipur districts as rains affected the normal life and traffic on the roads.
Many low lying colonies and slums were inundated in Jaipur with over 3 cms rainfall since wee hours and till 8 am.
Rainy water entered hundreds of house in low lying colonies including Girdharipura, Chandi-ki-Taksal, Ramganj, Jawahar Nagar's kachi basti, and many portion of the walled city.
Sewer lines were chocked and most of the roads got damaged due to heavy rains for the last one week in Jaipur city.
District Collector K Kunal with his team of ADMs went on taking the stock of rainfall after it stopped around mid day, an official said, adding, there was no untoward incident due to heavy downpour.
Meanwhile, Sadulshahar recorded a maximum rainfall of 17 cm, Hanumangarh 15, TIBBI, Raisinghnagar 12 each, Sangaria 11, Sayala, Padampur, Pilibanga 9 each, Abu Road 8, Mandwar 7, Gudamalani, Anupgarh, Nohar, Bhopal Sagar, Dhambola 6 each, and one to five cms at many places in the state.
Heavy rains may occur at isolated places in northwest of the state in the next 24 hours, a MeT office forecast said.
