Delhi government will soon set up a helpline number to attend to nursery admission-related complaints.
"We will soon launch a helpline number dedicated to the nursery admission related issues and I will supervise that and take necessary action accordingly," said Delhi's Education, PWD and Urban Development Minister Manish Sisodia today.
The helpline is expected to start working before January 15, he said.
On the issue of opening 500 new schools which AAP had promised in its manifesto, Sisodia said he held a meeting with the education, finance, fire, MCD, PWD and other concerned departments to discuss the subject.
"195 locations had already been identified during the last government's tenure but they are either stuck with DDA or MCD for various reasons. So, we have asked the concerned departments to give neccessary clearnces in a time-bound manner," he said.
Sisodia said government is working on a roadmap to regularize the 1639 colonies.
"Out of the 1639, 895 colonies are regularised only on papers as residents of the area are yet to get the property title rights. The remaining are yet to be given clearance in principle," Sisodia said.
"Actually, there are 1639 applications and many of these applications (around 40) are just fake which means some colonies don't even exist and then there are duplicate applications. So, the total number of the colonies are less than 1639 figure," he said adding his department is assessing the credibility of the applications and will provide them with basic amenities.
