The seizure was made following a tip off, DIG BSF Ferozepur Sector R K Thapa said, adding that during the wee hours, BSF troops deployed in BOP Barreke spotted some suspicious movement.
They challenged them but Pakistani smugglers managed to escape in the cover of darkness. However, during the search of the area, five packets of heroin were recovered.
It is the second major consignment seized this month by BSF. In the first week of November, 22 kg heroin was recovered from BoP Ulloke.
